Revelstoke City Council approved $32,050 in funding for a feasibility study for a helipad at Queen Victoria Hospital.
The existing facility at Queen Victoria Hospital has not been used for years because it isn’t up to Transport Canada standards.
The $32,050 in funding is for the first phase of the project, that will include study and design. Red Deer, Alberta-based aerodrome consulting company GroundEffect provided an estimate via Interior Health. The first phase of the study will determine construction costs.
A letter from Queen Victoria Acute Health Services/Site Manager Julie Lowes said the construction costs will be a community fundraising project but Interior Health will provide operating costs once the helipad is complete.
The study funding will come from the city’s tourism infrastructure fund.
