100 Mile House RCMP members dealt with a few motor-vehicle incidents

100 Mile House Traffic Services ticketed the driver of a tractor-trailer on Dec. 6, after he unknowingly backed into a pickup truck on Exeter Road and drove away, despite having caused $3,000 in damages. The big-rig driver was followed and flagged down by the driver of the pickup he had hit.

100 Mile RCMP responded to 59 complaints and calls for service during the past week.

 

Too drunk to drive

On Dec. 11, 100 Mile RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver on Biss Road near Forest Grove.

The vehicle was located in the middle of the road with the engine running. The man seated in the driver’s seat was determined to have consumed liquor.

An approved screening device was administered at roadside. The result was a fail.

He was detained and returned to the 100 Mile House RCMP detachment office where two breath samples were obtained of 140 and 130 mg per cent. The driver was also determined to be prohibited from driving under the Criminal Code and Motor Vehicle Act.

Charges of impaired driving, driving over the legal limit and driving while prohibited are being recommended to Crown against a 43-year-old male Canim Lake resident.

 

Pedestrian gets ride to hospital

On Dec. 7, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian/motor-vehicle collision on Birch Street and First Avenue in 100 Mile House.

A female pedestrian had been crossing First Avenue between intersections and was struck by the driver of a car. The pedestrian was not injured.

She was driven to the hospital by the driver of the vehicle that struck her and was immediately released.

No charges are being sought in this instance.

 

Didn’t feel a thing

On Dec. 7, 100 Mile Traffic Services responded to a complaint of a collision on Exeter Road in 100 Mile House.

Investigation revealed that the driver of a semi tractor-trailer unit had backed up and impacted a pickup truck, causing approximately $3,000 in damages.

The driver of the semi-trailer had not been aware the collision had occurred and had driven away. The owner of the pickup truck followed and flagged the semi-trailer down. The driver of the semi tractor was issued a violation ticket for unsafe backing.
