Spallumcheen’s O’Keefe Ranch is stepping up for wildfire evacuees.
The historic ranch is offering free admission to families displaced due to the fires.
“We think this comes at a time when a healthy distraction from reality would benefit,” said the ranch in a news release.
“We invite visitors from the Interior to explore the O’Keefe Ranch; visit the farm animals, peruse the historic buildings, learn through exhibitions in the Greenhow Museum, take a tour of the O’Keefe Mansion and have a good run through the Summertime Corn Maze.”
The ranch is hosting Family Fun Day Sunday with more activities taking place, including professional rider and trainer Lee Poncelet and his working dog giving a demonstration with his horses on working cow horse and cutting horse activities.
Gold panning will be available to try courtesy of the Vernon Placer Miner Club, and there will be a performance by members of the North Okanagan Pipes and Drums Club.
Evacuees are asked to show identification with proof of residence when they arrive, and are encouraged to stay as long as they’d like, with regular Ranch admission and the corn maze available free of charge.
