The fine summer weather experienced by District 69 residents is perfect for riding a bike, but as the local RCMP note, it’s also perfect for going for a ride on bicycles that don’t belong to you. Corporal Jesse Foreman said Monday bike thieves have been active in the Wembley Road area over the past few days.
“It looks like we had quite a rash on both Friday and Saturday nights,” he said, noting several vehicles were also entered and rifled through.
“Lots of people just leave their bikes out in the yard or on the patio or even in the back yard at this time of year,” he said.
Foreman urged bicycle owners to lock their rides at night, regardless of how seemingly secure they might appear. As well, he urged drivers to both lock their doors and remove all valuables prior to leaving their vehicles for the night.
