West Shore RCMP remind residents to lock vehicles and bring in the valuables after a spurt of thefts last weekend.
The detachment got nine reports on Monday of vehicles entered, all in Colwood, and in most cases items stolen.
Some of the vehicles were left unlocked.
“Please do not leave any valuables in your vehicle while unattended. Thefts from motor vehicles happen both at night and during the day,” said Const. Sarah Beckett, media relations officer for the West Shore detachment.
“We need to band together as a community and make it hard for criminals to thrive on the stolen property of others. If you see something suspicious or out of the ordinary, please contact your local police right away,” Beckett said. “Help yourself, help your neighbour and stop criminals before you become their next target.”
The West Shore RCMP ask anyone with information to contact the detachment at 250-474-2264 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
