Police are now investigating two alleged sexual assaults, one victim a 22-year-old young woman in Kelowna, the other a 17-year-old youth in West Kelowna.

Kelowna RCMP can confirm they have received a report of a sexual assault in the Glenrosa area and are in the early stages of an investigation.

“The investigation is ongoing…We’re basically confirming its legitimacy,” said Const. Kris Clark, Kelowna RCMP spokesperson.

Over the weekend news reports surfaced stating a 17-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted on a heavily used trail adjacent to Glenrosa Middle School.

Details of the assault came from residents in the West Kelowna neighbourhood who reported what had happened to the youth, as per information they received from her relatives.

The alleged assault follows on the heels of an incident off the Mission Park Greenway last Monday. A 22-year-old woman out for a walk in the evening was hit over the head, dragged into the bush and sexually assaulted in that incident.

Police issued a statement on Wednesday, June 5 warning the public to be careful on the Greenway and not use the trail and surrounding area alone, if possible.

RCMP are not prepared to issue any details on this latest incident, Const. Clark said.
