Golden-Field RCMP
The Golden-Field RCMP are currently investigating three separate thefts of vehicles, two which were reported on August 20, and the third on August 22.
The two vehicles stolen on August 20 were taken from a residential area on 10th Street S., while the third was taken from outside a business on 10th Avenue N.
One of the vehicles had the ignition punched, however two of the three vehicles had the keys left inside, says Cst. Spencer Lainchbury with the Golden-Field RCMP. Local RCMP stresses the importance of removing valuables from vehicles that are unattended, especially the keys.
The Golden-Field RCMP have since recovered all three vehicles, however they are still investigating the thefts to try and determine a suspect.

On August 24, just after 11 p.m., the Golden-Field RCMP received a complaint of a possible impaired driver travelling on the Trans-Canada Highway Frontage Road in Golden.
Police immediately located the pickup truck, however, it’s alleged that at that time the driver refused to pull over for police and fled at a high speed.
After conducting further patrols RCMP were able to locate the vehicle parked at a nearby hotel, says Cst. Spencer Lainchbury with the Golden-Field RCMP. A male, who appeared to be sleeping, was sitting in the driver’s seat and was arrested.
A search of the vehicle was then conducted which resulted in two firearms, a loaded 7.62 SKS rifle with bayonet, and a loaded .22 rifle being located and seized.
A 34 year-old male from Carston, Alberta is facing several charges including care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, failure to stop for a red light, and failure to stop for police.
The male was released and is scheduled to appear in court, in Golden, on November 14.
The SKS is a semi-automatic weapon and is not considered an assault rifle.
On August 29, the Golden-Field RCMP was advised that search and rescue was required for three overdue hikers near Kinbasket Lake, west of Golden.
RCMP immediately activated Golden and District Search and Rescue (GADSAR), and a rescue was organized for the following morning at first light, says Cst. Spencer Lainchbury with the Golden-Field RCMP. Unfortunately due to fog, the helicopter was delayed from taking off until later in the morning.
GADSAR was able to locate the males at approximately 2 p.m.
All three were uninjured.
Conservation Officers Service
Conservation Officers issued several enforcement actions for violations under the Fisheries Act, Off Road Vehicles Act and Wildfire Act in the past week.
They also responded to several reports of black bears hanging around residential areas and campgrounds. Officers would like to remind residents and business owners of the importance of securing all attractants at this time of year. As berries and other natural food sources begin to dwindle, bears are in search of any other food sources that will build critical fat reserves in order to get them through the long, cold winter.
When all fruit, garbage, and other unnatural food sources are secured, bears are far less likely to become habituated and come into conflict with humans.
