RCMP expands search for missing Smithers woman Jennifer Derbyshire

Police are investigating an alleged sighting of Jennifer Derbyshire at Walmart in Quesnel yesterday.

The search for missing Smithers woman Jennifer Derbyshire has expanded after she was allegedly seen at a Walmart in Quesnel yesterday.

The 41-year-old was last seen when she dropped her children off at school in Smithers at about 8 a.m. yesterday.

She was reported missing to Smithers RCMP at 4:52 p.m., after she failed to turn up to work or contact friends or family.

Police said the disappearance was considered out of character for Derbyshire.

A friend of the missing woman wrote on Facebook it was believed she may have been driving towards Alberta.

Police said they were investigating an alleged sighting at Walmart in Quesnel yesterday at about 6 p.m.

Derbyshire’s husband, Stede, said he had not received any additional information about Jennifer’s whereabouts. He declined to comment further.

Derbyshire is described as being about 170cm tall, of medium build with shoulder-length brown hair and blue eyes.

She is believed to be driving the family’s 2005 navy blue Dodge Caravan with B.C. licence plate 418-KRH.
