An RCMP dog ended a game of hide and seek with a man wanted on arrest warrants.
On Feb. 20, the RCMP obtained a warrant to enter a residence on Glover Road, believing Owen Charpentier was inside, according to Langley RCMP Cpl. Holly Largy. They entered shortly after 1:30 a.m.
“After over an hour of searching, Charpentier was found by the police dog hiding in an enclosed attic annex. He was hidden by insulation material and panels available to him as camouflage,” Largy said.
The 20-year-old has been taken to court Feb. 20 to answer to his outstanding charges.
The Langley man had been linked to a stolen car and break-in tools.
On Feb. 1, Charpentier was arrested after a police dog allegedly tracked him from a stolen car.
The car, stolen the previous day, had numerous break and enter tools inside when it was found, Largy explained.
Charpentier was scheduled to appear in court as recently as Feb. 14, but a warrant was issued for his arrest after he missed some appearances before a judge.
He has been charged with theft under $5,00, driving while prohibited, and breach of recognizance, said Largy.
The wanted man had been known to live in Langley City, but was also rumoured to have been in the Chilliwack area when police went public with the manhunt.
