Police responded to several reports of shots fired in Qualicum Bay, near the Qualicum First Nation reserve, in the early hours of Thursday, Oct. 31.

Cpl. Jesse Foreman with the Oceanside RCMP says they received the calls at 2:50 a.m. and headed out to investigate.

After searching the area they found four empty shell casings near the intersection of the highway and Fisheries Road.

“There was no one around and it was nowhere near any houses, nothing’s been hit or struck. We’re unsure whether it’s somebody poaching, or otherwise,” said Foreman.

“We are investigating, hoping to find some answers.”
