A masked 19-year-old Colwood man was nabbed for robbing the Petro Canada gas station last Thursday.
West Shore RCMP say a man wearing a bandana entered the station at 1879 Island Hwy. at 10:20 p.m. and indicated he had a gun, but did not flash any weapons.
The man fled on foot with cash and cigarettes and the clerk was not injured. RCMP officers, assisted by officers from the Integrated Road Safety Unit, spotted the suspect riding a bike on Sooke Road, near Colwood Plaza.
He was wearing the same clothes as captured in the gas station’s video footage. A RCMP police dog unit found his disguise and stolen goods nearby.
Police are seeking charges of robbery and committing an indictable offence while wearing a mask. He was not carrying any weapons.
The suspect is not thought to be involved in recent armed robberies of a video store in Langford and the Glen Lake beer and wine store.
