Police say unknown man entered a home, assaulted 1 resident and then fled

Coquitlam RCMP are searching for a man who was captured on surveillance footage entering a home on Wednesday (March 6), where a resident says they were assaulted.

Police are characterizing the incident as a home invasion. They say the unknown man went into the home at 5:15 p.m., attacked one of the several people who were inside and then fled.

The resident suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. Police say they believe the attack was targeted and isolated, but that they don’t know the identity of the perpetrator.

The Coquitlam detachment released surveillance footage on Thursday of the man approaching the home in hopes of having the public help.

The man is described as Caucasian with a medium build, hazel eyes, a brown moustache and a balding hairline. He was dressed in dark jeans, dark lace-up shoes with white soles and a long black dress jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
