Columbia Valley detachment received a complaint of a break and enter and theft in the 4900 block of Mountain Side Rd. in Fairmont. A Symphonic LCD flat screen TV was stolen.
April 2
Complaint of theft of a vehicle was reported from the area of Black Forest Trail in Invermere. Keys were left in the vehicle. Stolen was a grey/blue four-door 2007 Toyota Tundra.
Columbia Valley detachment received a complaint of theft of a ‘98 Ford Explorer from the 1700 block of 11 Ave., Invermere. Keys were also left in the vehicle.
Over the weekend Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena was broken into twice. In one instance some beer was stolen. On April 4 a 47-year-old male from Invermere, well-known to the police, was arrested and charged with two counts of break and enter and theft as well as breach of conditions. The male, due to past history, remains in custody and will be appearing in court for a bail hearing.
The detachment received a complaint of theft of a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder stolen overnight from the 1100 block 6 St. Keys were left in the seat.
Columbia Valley detachment received a further complaint of theft of a 2009 Ford F150 truck stolen from the 1400 block of 18th St. Keys were hidden in the vehicle. The vehicle was located April 3 on a dirt road extension of Pineridge Drive. Vehicle was destroyed by fire.
The detachment received a complaint of assault involving a number of adults in a local bar. This investigation is continuing.
April 3
Panorama Ski Patrol reported three lost skiers in the out-of-bounds area near Hopeful Creek Drainage. Search and Rescue were called out, along with a helicopter. Two of the males managed to walk out of the area on their own. One male had to be taken out by Ski Patrol members and the helicopter. No injuries.
Columbia Valley RCMP checked a ‘91 Chevrolet pick-up due to its speed on Hwy. 93/95 north of Invermere. The driver displayed signs of being impaired. An ASD demand was read and the 24-year-old female driver from Invermere blew a fail. As a result, the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for 30 days. The driver was also charged with speeding.
