In a seven-day period Golden/Field RCMP responded to 40 files.
911 hang up issues continue
The RCMP had to deal with six 911hangups this week. Many of these seem to happen when people leave their phones on in their pockets. The RCMP would like to remind people that these hangups take up valuable resources.
People are reminded to lock their phones to avoid pocket dials.
If a pocket dial does happen please answer the phone when the RCMP call back to ensure everything is fine.
Grass is not always greener

A report was made about a local person who was burning grass, which accidentally led to the burning of an unlicensed car.
The person, who is the landlord of the property where the grass was being burned, was burning the grass to make it greener when it got away from him.
The fire spread and burned out the car which was owned by the renters of the property. RCMP would like to remind anyone who is planning to burn anything that fires can get out of control very easily and they should take caution.
Male arrested trafficking in a controlled substance

A 19-year-old male was arrested at approximately 10:30 p.m. for trafficking a controlled substance.
The substance the male is charged with having on his possession was cocaine.
The person in question was known to police after being arrested in an unrelated break and entry in the Canyon Ridge area only a few weeks before.
The male had been released from custody on the break and entry charge before being arrested again.
The male has been released again until his court date.
A case of fraud

RCMP were informed by a local citizen who received a cheque in the mail that advised him to put the cheque in the bank and then go to a number of stores to purchase specific items.
The information said the person could keep the products and submit a report on the customer service he/she received.
The person would then submit the report and return the extra money from the cheque.
The RCMP referred the case to Phonebusters, and would like to inform local people that there are many different types of fraud being employed right now.

Two vehicle accidents on highway
RCMP responded to two motor vehicle accidents on the highway. Both were single vehicle accidents. The first accident happened 23 kilometres east of Golden.
A vehicle had left the highway and ended up in a ditch. The RCMP contacted a local towing company that helped pull the vehicle out of a ditch. The car was not damaged and the driver continued on his way.
The second accident involved a tractor trailer.
However, the police were informed on their way out to the accident site that the driver had moved his vehicle back on the highway and had already left the scene.
