With the shoulder season starting to kick in, RCMP have noticed a drop in the number of incidents over the past week.
RCMP were called to a shots fired complaint in Nicholson. RCMP went to the scene taking due diligence and tactical safety into account. Upon arriving on the scene it was determined that the noise heard was actually fireworks. RCMP ended up seizing three rifles from the house because they were unsafely stored and the guns did not have permits. RCMP officers found the weapons under a mattress in a bedroom of the house where two young children also lived.
RCMP wish to remind residents that if they own guns, to store them in an independent locker, and not with ammunition. People also must have a valid firearms possession license, which can be procured through the Canadian Firearms Centre.
RCMP had a report of counterfeit $100 bills being circulated in the area. Businesses are reminded to check bills to ensure they are not fakes.
RCMP would like to remind people to take special care on the highway as warmer temperatures cause snow to melt during the day but freeze overnight. This can cause slippery conditions in the morning, even when the weather is nice.
