Over 20 collisions since start of 2016
Local police have been called to 21 collisions since January 1, the majority of which occurred on the Trans-Canada Highway.
Most of the collisions resulted in either minor or no injuries to the occupants.
During the same time period police also received 14 traffic complaints of erratic driving.
Police would like to remind motorists to slow down and drive according to the road conditions.
Male arrested for disturbance
One male was arrested on New Year’s after police received a report that there was an intoxicated male yelling and swearing at pedestrians. The male was located and arrested for causing a disturbance. The male was released the following morning once sober.
Male falls asleep in strange home
Police were called on January 1 after a male knocked on the door of a residence on 11th Street South stating he was looking for a friend.
The owner of the residence did not know the male and before she could shut the door the male entered the residence, falling asleep on a chair.
The owner then left the residence returning later to find the male had left before calling police.
Overdose at local motel
Charges for drug possession are being considered after police were called by BC Ambulance to assist with three males who had allegedly overdosed on drugs at a local motel. A number of drugs including what police believe are Ketamine, and MDMA were seized along with a number of unknown prescription drugs.
Fire in the Blae
On January 3, the Golden-Field RCMP was called to a structure fire on Holmes Deakin Road in the Blaeberry. As the residence was not inside a fire protection area police were contacted to respond.
The residence was a complete loss, however there was nobody inside at the time of the fire and no reported injuries. At this time police do not believe that the fire was suspicious.
Intoxicated male taken to drunk tank
A 53 year-old male spent the night in police custody on January 3 after police were called by someone concerned that he was outside without proper winter clothing.
The male was located a short time later by police, and appeared to be intoxicated.
Police provided the male with a ride to a nearby store and staff later advised that the male had been hunched over the sink for a period of time. Police picked up the male once again this time attempting to bring him to a friend’s residence to sober up, however the friend refused to allow the male to stay there at which point he was brought to cells.
The male was then released once sober. No charges are expected in relation to this incident.
Complaint issued for bus passenger
On January 7 the Golden-Field RCMP received a complaint of an intoxicated male yelling on the Greyhound Bus.
The male was arrested for causing a disturbance and held in cells until sober.
Stolen gasoline
Police were advised on January 8 that jerry cans with approximately $100 worth of gasoline had been stolen out of a truck parked at a local hotel. The Golden-Field RCMP would like to remind everyone to ensure that all valuables are locked up and secured.
Marijuana seized
The Golden RCMP Traffic Services unit seized approximately 20 grams of marijuana from a vehicle on January 6, after stopping the vehicle for speeding. No charges are expected in relation to the seizure.
