• The detachment received a possible report of an impaired driver on Highway 93 near Olive Lake. A white Jetta was discovered in the ditch. A passing motorist reported that the males in the vehicle had smelled of alcohol when he stopped. A second driver dropped off the two males in town and also contacted the police of their suspicion. Patrols of the area failed to locate the two males. These observations and concerns brought forward are appreciated, regardless of the outcome.
January 27
• RCMP responded to a complaint of hit and run in the 4800 block of Stanley Street near Pinewood Condos. A suspect vehicle, later determined to be a GMC pickup from parts found on the ground, rounded a corner too fast and collided with a ’98 Lincoln Navigator. Anyone with information is requested to contact the detachment.
January 28
• Columbia Valley detachment responded to a single vehicle accident involving a 2005 GMC pickup driven by a 28 year-old male from Airdre hitting a moose. No injuries to the driver but extensive damage to the vehicle.
• The detachment responded to another collision between a vehicle and an elk on Highway 93/95 near Swansea Road. No injuries to the 29 year-old driver from Cranbrook.
