The Golden RCMP dealt with 28 files this past week, down a bit from the holiday season.
Incoherent male
On Jan. 5, RCMP were called to Fas Gas up on Highway 1. There was a person talking nonsense, and they were asked to come and check on him. When they arrived he was sitting in his vehicle, completely naked.
After a brief conversation with him it was determined that he needed to go to the hospital and talk to a doctor. Officers convinced him to get dressed, and he was taken to the hospital.
Stuck snowmobiler
RCMP received a report of a lost person on Jan. 11. Two people were out snowmobiling in the Gorman Lake area. The two males parted ways in the backcountry, and one of them got stuck.
The one male made it out to the parking lot and waited for his friend. When he didn’t show up he called the RCMP. Golden and District Search and Rescue was dispatched, and they located the snowmobiler.
RCMP would like to remind people that if you’re out in the backcountry in groups, it is best to stick together. It is also important to be prepared for the backcountry. This person who was stuck was not prepared, and had no supplies to spend the night. If search and rescue cannot get a helicopter up at night, then rescue operations often have to wait until morning.
When recreating in the backcountry, you should always have supplies to stay at least one or two nights, and start a fire.
Minor accidents
Golden RCMP responded to four motor vehicle accidents in the past week, after the recent dump of snow. All were minor in nature.
Trailer still missing
The flat-deck trailer, which was stolen on Jan. 4, has not yet been recovered. It is a 2012, black, flat-deck trailer, and was taken from Selkirk Electric on 10th Avenue North.
Once again, the licence plate number at the time it was stolen was 18114D. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Golden RCMP at 250-344-2221.
