RCMP respond to vehicle thefts, all with doors unlocked

Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 237 calls for service during the week of October 7-13. Of those calls, approximately 91 were received over the weekend, Friday Oct. 11 to midnight Oct. 13.

Below are some highlights from last week’s calls:

Man arrested on an outstanding warrant

Terrace RCMP executed a warrant on a wanted man from Thornhill after observing a vehicle in front of the 2800 block of Kalum Street, Oct. 12.

The vehicle had its doors open and two men standing outside. Police recognized a man and arrested him. The man slammed the vehicle car door closed, but surrendered as more officers arrived.

Randy Douglas McPhadyen, 33, of Thornhill was arrested on an endorsed warrant related to using a forged document. He was released with a court date.

Three theft files reported from vehicles

Police were met with multiple thefts from vehicles.

Around 8:35 a.m. on Oct. 13, police were called to the 4000 block of Munroe Street in Terrace for a report of a shed, car, and trailer broken into overnight. The car and trailer had been left unlocked, whereas a flashlight was the only thing noted to be stolen.

Shortly after, around 8:48 a.m., police received a report of stolen items from a vehicle on the 4700 block of Olson Avenue. A door to the vehicle was found to be unlocked.

At approximately 10:17 a.m., another report came in from the 4800 block of Twedle Avenue. An unlocked truck had several items stolen including gloves and a multi-tool.

Sobering up in cells

Approximately 11 people sobered up with police between Friday and Sunday, Oct. 13.

On Friday, Oct. 11, two men were lodged in cells to sober up safely after being located intoxicated on the 4600 and 4700 block of Lakelse Avenue.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, four people sobered up with police; two men and two women. They were arrested on the 4600 and 4700 block of Lakelse Avenue, at Lakelse Avenue and Atwood Street, and the 3200 block of Kalum Street.

On Sunday, Oct. 13, five more people were lodged; one woman, four men. They were located on the 5200 block of Heppel Avenue, 4700 block of Lakelse Avenue, the 2500 block of Pear Street, 4700 block of Lazelle Avenue, and the 5500 block of Gitselasu Street.
