A rash of vandalism late Monday night (Nov. 26) has West Shore RCMP asking for the public to come forward with any information.
Tuesday morning RCMP received more than 19 reports of vandalism carried out the night before. The majority involved vehicles with smashed side view mirrors. In one incident a mailbox was knocked over, and in another a rock was thrown through a vehicle’s windshield.
The vandalism took place throughout Colwood, Langford and Highlands. Acting Sgt. Kathy Rochlitz said it appears a blunt object was used to smash the side view mirrors and that it was the roadside mirrors that were smashed.
On some streets up to five cars were vandalized, while on others one or two were hit. “There’s no rhyme or reason to it,” Rochlitz said. “You may get one or two in a night, but to have a significant rash like 19, that’s significant to us.”
West Shore RCMP are asking anyone with information to call the detachment at 250-474-2264 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-222-8477.
