The case originated in the spring of 2013 on a remote logging road NE of Burns Lake.

On April 23., a Ft. St. James man entered a guilty plea in a Prince George courtroom to charges of obstruction under the Criminal Code and drive without due care and attention under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The case originated in the spring of 2013 on a remote logging road NE of Burns Lake. An all-terrain vehicle driver refused to stop and accelerated through a check stop operated by local conservation officers on the May long weekend.

The all-terrain vehicle was tracked and located near Ogston Lake, at which time the driver accelerated towards officers once more.

The driver, who smelled of alcohol was arrested and pulled from the vehicle.  Richard Lee Hoffert has been sentenced to a fine of $2500 and placed on conditions of 6 months of probation and only permitted to drive a motor vehicle for work purposes.

The all-terrain vehicle seized at the time of the offence, will be released back to the owner next month.
