UPDATE Aug 17 – Regional district confirms 30 homes lost in Rock Creek fire.

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary confirmed Sunday morning that 29 homes and 11 additional properties in Rock Creek were lost in a wildfire that was sparked Thursday afternoon.
In a media release, the RDKB says homeowners are being contacted and residents within the region can call 250.368.0254 for information.
Evacuation orders are still in effect for the Highway 33 corridor from Rock Creek to the south intersection of Blythe-Rhone road.
Highway 3 was re-opened 14 kilometres east of Osoyoos to Midway at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Motorists are urged to watch for debris.
Police continue to patrol evacuated area to ensure safety and security.
Kettle River Provincial Park evacuees could be returning to their vehicles and belongings soon, according to the media release. The plan is to return people to the park escorted in small groups.
