The Regional District of Nanaimo board will decide whether to provide money to the operators of the Port Theatre at its June 27 regular meeting.
The regional district committee of the whole is recommending the board approve a five-year contribution agreement that will run until March 2022, a continuation of support for the Port Theatre
The agreement would see monies collected from electoral Areas A, B, C and E based on assessments and provided to the Port Theatre Society, the non-profit that operates the downtown Nanaimo theatre. The contribution for 2017 would be $71,813 and subsequently, $72,890 would be collected in 2018, $73,984 in 2019, $75,093 in 2020 and $76,220 in 2021.
The agreement would be reviewed by the board annually as part of budget discussions.
