TERRACE city councillor Stacey Tyers was unopposed in her bid to be returned as the chair of the Kitimat-Stikine regional district at the regional government’s Dec. 11 meeting.

This will be the second year Tyers is chair of the regional district.

Tyers’s position on the regional district board comes after being selected as one of two City of Terrace directors on the board.

She and the other city representative, councillor James Cordeiro, took regional district oaths of office on Dec. 11.

Their alternates are City of Terrace councillors Lynne Christiansen and Sean Bujtas, who likewise took oaths of office.

Harry Nyce was also unopposed in his return to the position of vice chair.

He represents the Nass Valley on the regional district board.

Six municipal councillors – two from Terrace and one each from Kitimat, New Hazelton, Hazelton and Stewart – and six elected directors from Thornhill, the rural area surrounding Terrace, the Nass Valley, the Hazelton rural area, Dease Lake and the Iskut area sit on the regional district board.
