The Regional District of Nanaimo green-lighted a $2,941 contribution to the Association of Vancouver Island Coastal Communities’ special committee on solid waste management last week.
The association sought the money for technical expertise, shared costs and research, according to the regional district.
The regional district’s amount was determined by a cost-sharing formula, with a flat rate of $500, plus a proportionate rate based on its tonnage of waste disposed, which came to $2,441. The committee’s total budget is $20,000.
