Crews will be busy treating roadside catch basins from Aug. 5 to 10 as part of the Central Okanagan Mosquito Control Program.

Those involved in the effort will drive by every curbside catch basin in Kelowna and Lake Country, as well as basins in a portion of West Kelowna Estates and Sunset Ranch. They will treat standing water with an environmentally approved mosquito larvicide packet.

During the five-day blitz, more than 9,000 roadside catch basins will be treated.

The Regional Nuisance Mosquito Control Program provides effective management of the insects through control of mosquito larvae in an environmentally friendly manner, and to reduce the potential risk of West Nile Virus.
