Lest we forget.
Those three words were memorialized again this year in the annual Remembrance Day ceremonies held across the Central Okanagan this morning at 11 a.m.
The Remembrance Day service was carried out in Kelowna’s City Park, Lions Park in Rutland, Royal LePage Place and the Westbank cenotaph in West Kelowna and in Lake Country at George Elliott school.
The Royal Canadian Legion branch 26 headed up the ceremony at City Park’s Memorial Square in Kelowna, with support of both the B.C.Dragoons, Kelowna City Band and the Kelowna Pipe Band Society along with a large public turnout.
Rev. Dick Fletcher led the service while city band member Dennis Colpitts performed the bugler’s Last Post.
The lyrics to the song Let There Be Peace On Earth, which was sung at the ceremony, captured the spirit behind Remembrance Day:

With God, our creator, children all are we;
