Food services are evolving short-term as the Upper Room Mission prepares for the future.
Kitchen renovations and expansion begins Monday and that means sit down meals will not be available for up to three weeks.
“Breakfast will be continental style, so it will be come and go,” said Lisa Froom, general manager, although part of the main floor will still be accessible for clients.
“There will also be a take-out lunch, probably a bag lunch.”
There will be no dinner provided during the renovations.
“If there are food items we can send home with people to help, we can,” said Froom.

Froom admits clients will be inconvenienced during the work but she says facilities are being upgraded to meet the needs of the public.
There will be a double convection oven and a gas grill, while the two-basin sink will be replaced, making it easier to wash a never-ending supply of pots and pans. Distinct preparation areas will prevent possible cross-contamination of food.
“It’s going to be awesome and people are being so positive,” said Froom.
The mission still doesn’t have all of the funds for the project.
The total bill is $165,000 and about $110,000 is still required.
“We’re still looking for community support,” said Froom.
