Residents invited to watch Penticton’s newly elected city councillor sworn in

James Miller's inauguration will take place Tuesday night at Gyro Park

The city of Penticton will hold a swearing in ceremony for the city’s newest elected councillor, James Miller, Tuesday, July 6 at Gyro Park.

Residents who wish to the view the ceremony are invited to attend the inaugural event starting at 5 p.m.

“The city looks forward to seeing members of the community who can safely attend,” reads a public statement from the city.

Miller was elected to council June 19, after beating out nine other candidates with 1,666 votes out of over 5,000 votes cast.

Miller is also the managing editor at the Penticton Herald newspaper, causing some to question the ethics of his election to council.
