Tourism Rossland is working on new banners featuring local artists that will be put up throughout town.
The project is being funded through the province’s Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI), which allocated $10.5 million to 14 resort communities for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. The funding is meant to help communities diversify their tourism offerings and create an enjoyable experience for tourists visiting BC. RMI communities include Rossland, Whistler, Fernie, Kimberley, Golden, Harrison Hot Springs, Invermere, Osoyoos, Radium Hot Springs, Revelstoke, Sun Peaks, Tofino, Ucluelet and Valemount.
“Whether it’s a Canada Day celebration in Whistler or a walk along the new Cranberry Marsh Trail and Boardwalk in Valemount, the range of tourism opportunities supported by the province through RMI funding is as diverse as they are exciting,” said Shirley Bond, minister of jobs, tourism and skills training and minister responsible for labour, in a press release. “I hope British Columbians get out and explore some of the tourism offerings in the participating 14 resort communities this summer and see first-hand what people from around the world are coming to BC for.”
