Hundreds of people dropped by the Kanaka Creek fish fence Sunday afternoon for the annual Return of the Salmon festival in Maple Ridge. The festival is put on by Metro Vancouver and the Kanaka Education and Environmental Partnership Society. Bell-Irving Hatchery manager Darin McClain along with volunteer Alex Donald and Ross Davies with KEEPS educated the crowd about chum salmon that are returning to the creek to spawn.
