The City of Revelstoke has lifted the boil water advisory that was put in place Friday morning.
The advisory was lifted at about 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, after the city and Interior Health completed testing of the water supply and determined it was safe for drinking, says a news release.
“With the testing conducted and increased use of water due to high temperatures, we are confident that the untreated water has been flushed from the distribution system,” said Mike Thomas, the city’s Director of Engineering. “I would like to thank all city staff involved in responding to this incident. We look forward to working with council and Interior Health to improve our response protocols.”
The boil water advisory was put in place after the pipe directing filtered, treated water disconnected, flooding the Greeley Water Treatment Plant early Friday morning. The bypass line was used, sending untreated water throughout town.
Public works repaired the break that morning and spent the weekend testing the water. The news release says the risk to the public was low but the city had to follow protocols put in place by Interior Health.
