Revelstoke RCMP say crash on the Trans-Canada Highway on Mar. 14 that closed the highway for nearly three hours should remind drivers to slow down.
The crash happened about 20 kilometres west of Revelstoke at around 8 a.m.
The tractor-trailer crashed into the snowbank at the side of the road, then jackknifed, completely blocking off traffic in both directions. for two-and-a-half hours. Alternating lane closures followed until about noon.
The driver of the truck was transported to Queen Victoria Hospital with minor injuries.
Police issued him a violation ticket for speed relative to conditions.
Revelstoke RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Thomas Blakney reminded drivers to slow down in the snow: “Although highway maintenance crews continue to ensure our roads are plowed and sanded, the Revelstoke RCMP would like to remind drivers to drive according to the conditions as this current snowfall can lead to slippery conditions.”
