Revelstoke RCMP agree erring on the side of caution is prudent after a man in a car is reported to have approached young girls this morning and attempted to coax them into his vehicle.

The concerning incident happened at about 9:15 a.m. on Monday, May 23. Revelstoke RCMP Const. Jamie Perrault said the incident happened at First Street and Victoria Road, right near the CP Rail yard parking lot.

The man is described as a heavy-set Caucasian man in his 50s with dark hair. He was driving what was reported as a gray Reliant sedan with paint flaking off in some places. A Reliant is a mid-size sedan.

However, the incident wasn’t reported for 45 minutes and the vehicle was gone by the time police arrived.

At this point, Perrault said “there is no way to confirm” the incident, but advised erring on the side of caution.
