You can have your say on plans to rezone Rossland’s old city hall at a public meeting on Aug. 9.

The move is in preparation for putting the building at 1899 Columbia Ave. up for sale. It’s presently zoned public and institutional, but the city proposes to change it to commercial downtown core, allowing for a number of different uses.

An amendment to the Official Community Plan is also required as part of the process.

The building, constructed in 1967 as a medical clinic, has been vacant since the roof partly collapsed under weight of snow in March 2018. City hall moved to temporary quarters at 2196 Leroi Ave. soon afterward, but the city plans to include a new headquarters on the ground floor of a four-storey mixed use development on the former Emcon lot at 1920 Third Ave.
