Ride bus for a buck on July 1

Special discount by BC Transit to help Canada Day celebrants attend events

A dollar doesn’t take you very far these days, unless you’re taking BC Transit to Canada Day celebrations in the Comox Valley.

The Comox Valley Regional District and BC Transit are pleased to offer loonie rides on Canada Day Monday. The one-day discount is intended to encourage residents to leave their driving and parking worries at home on Canada’s 146th birthday.

Whether transit customers are attending the Canada Day Grande Parade on Fifth Street, taking in events at Lewis and Simms parks, or having a quiet celebration with friends and family, transit is the safe and reliable way to travel.

“Loonie rides will make it easy for people to go to town and celebrate Canada Day with their family and friends,” said Comox Valley MLA Don McRae. “Leave your vehicles behind, and take a loonie ride down to the Canada Day celebrations.”

“Along with all the other great Canada Day celebration events, the ‘transit future bus’ will be in Lewis Park on July 1,” said CVRD board chair Edwin Grieve. “The BC Transit team will be on board to answer questions and listen to your ideas. This is a great opportunity for anyone with something to say about Comox Valley transit to talk with those in the know.”
