Construction work on the Highway 97 bypass in Lake Country will include rock blasting this week.

Windley Contracting (2010) Ltd. is conducting clearing work between Winfield and Oyama, on Wednesday, Nov. 14 and Thursday, Nov. 15, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

As this work will include rock blasting and its removal from the highway, motorists should expect traffic delays during these times.

A 30 minute highway closure from Oceola intersection to Ponderosa Road is scheduled to take place between 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on both Wednesday and Thursday. This is necessary as blasting activities must be completed during daylight hours for the safety of the public and our workers.

Motorists may want to use alternate routes during these times. A detour route is available via Oyama Road on the east side of Wood Lake.

Windley Contracting has developed a Traffic Management Plan to minimize traffic impacts especially to emergency services, transit, local property owners and commuters.

General questions regarding this project should be directed to Kyle Webb, civil divisions manager for Windley Contracting (2010) Ltd. at 250-758-3411.
