Road survey knocks highway along Burns Lake

The B.C. Automobile Association (BCAA) recently released a survey of problem roads in Northern B.C. as voted on by participants in an online poll.

Burns Lake made the list with congestion along Hwy. 16 being identified, but most northern communities had some complaint or another registered against highways passing through their towns.

Prince George had the overwhelming majority of complaints against its roads, not surprising given the size of the city.  Almost all complaints in Prince George against more than 40 roads, including highways, were concerning potholes or crumbling pavement.

The survey was conducted before the completion of phase one downtown revitalization in Burns Lake. At last council meeting, village staff were asked to contact BCAA to let them know that steps were taken which may have mitigated the issue.

The 2013 BCAA road survey was conducted through online polling of motorists who wished to register their complaints regarding provincial and municipal roads.
