Rodeo community supports Stampede Dinner, Dance and Auction

Longtime rodeo supporters Willie and his wife, Terry, Crosina enjoy the Williams Lake Stampede Dinner, Dance and Auction Saturday night.

Rodeo supporters filled the Elks Hall Saturday night to let off a little steam and fundraise for the 2017 Williams Lake Stampede.

Guests dined on a delicious roast beef dinner and danced the night away to country band One in the Chamber.

Organizers also hosted live and silent auctions and the always entertaining loonie toss where Stampede president Tim Rolph and others held out their cowboy hats to catch tossed loonies.

“We had a very successful auction,” said Stampede director Susan Rolph.

In memory of bull rider Ty Pozzobon, the Stampede Association donated a 1992 Stampede poster — the year Ty was born — which was autographed by several PBR members and auctioned it off with all proceeds going to the Ty Pozzobon Foundation.

The foundation was formed Feb. 21 with its mission to protect and support the health and well being of rodeo competitors.

“We are very appreciative to the Little family for purchasing the poster and supporting the Pozzobon foundation,” Susan said.
