Rossland is one of Expedia’s 17 Canadian cities to visit in 2017.
Earlier this month the popular travel website released a list of “17 Canadian Cities to Visit in 2017” and Rossland was one of the featured destinations. The article specifically recommended Rossland as a winter destination, calling it “a winter wonderland” and recommending a visit during Winter Carnival or the 2017 Red Mountain Resort Canadian Open Freeride Championship. But the article also included a quote from Kristi Calder from Tourism Rossland, who pointed also pointed to the city’s summer attractions, like the trails, lakes and our “funky downtown with boutique shops, cafes and restaurants using fresh locally sourced ingredients, etc.”
Though she was contacted for the article, Calder didn’t know at the time that Rossland would be included on the list.
“Through Destination BC and Kootenay Rockies, we end up having different media members contacting us — whether they come to town, or whether they just contact us by email or by phone and ask some questions — and we usually get back to them with some information that they can include in their articles,” explains Calder. “I didn’t know that that was going to be the result of this one.”
Now that she does know, Calder is excited about Rossland’s inclusion. “It’s always great exposure for the town and for tourism,” she said.
After learning that Rossland had been included on the list, Rossland Mayor Kathy Moore said, “It’s a real pleasure to see Rossland get some well deserved recognition on an important travel site like Expedia. We have such unique town and we offer so many terrific experiences, fantastic people and just an all round great time for visitors. I hope lots of people see this blog and come visit Rossland.”
