Rossland’s Esling Park now has more focus on Rossland’s early days.
Three new display panels, located on the backside of the kiosk, create an outdoor education centre highlighting gold mining and its significance to the industry, the region and the community. Archival pictures, maps and text trace the development of Rossland’s hardrock mining and the resulting boomtown.
Rossland’s history is unique with its rich stock of heritage buildings and sites that remain a visual reminder of our colourful past. The new display at Esling Park depicts the history behind our heritage.
This project has been three years in the planning by the Rossland Heritage Commission. The commission chair, Jackie Drysdale, expresses pleasure in its completion for the benefit of Rosslanders, tourists, and as a potential learning site for school activities.
