Representatives from the Brentwood Bay Rotary Club presented a cheque Monday night for $6,480 towards a new cenotaph project in the District of Central Saanich.
On behalf of the club, President Elaine Gallagher, Treasurer Dominique Alford and Secretary Donna Stewart presented the cheque during Monday’s council meeting.
“This money was raised at our annual lobster fest, which we had at the Mary Winspear Centre this year, and we decided to donate all of the funds from the silent auction to this very worthy event,” said Gallagher.
Mayor Ryan Windsor accepted the cheque on behalf of the District, thanking them for their generous contribution to the cenotaph project.
“It’s a moving expression, especially given that this is the week of Remembrance Day,” he said.
