No one was injured when a twin-engined plane crashed on landing at the Langley Regional Airport Saturday night.
The Piper Aztec, flown by a Vancouver pilot and returning from Calgary, came in for a landing as usual early Saturday evening, around 7 p.m., said airport manager Guy Miller.
The Aztec’s front landing gear collapsed, the result of an apparent mechanical failure, Miller said.
That tipped the nose down and the propellers and engines suffered some major damage when they hit the runway.
There were four people on board at the time, none of them hurt in the rough landing.
An investigation of the exact cause of the incident is still underway.
Langley Township firefighters, along with RCMP and BC Ambulance crews, attended the scene with airport staff.
Miller said that the crash scene was cleared and the runway open again between 9 and 10 p.m.
