Take a bow, Royal B.C. Museum. You deserve it.

TripAdivsor.ca reviewers have declared the Royal B.C. Museum No. 1 in a list of the Top 10 Museums in Canada for 2014.

Along with this honour comes the continued declaration of the Royal B.C. Museum as a Travellers’ Choice winner, a title the museum and archives has held proudly for many years now.

Both awards honour top attractions worldwide based on millions of  reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travellers.

“It truly is an honour to receive this praise, especially knowing it comes not from a panel of experts or a single voice, but from the thousands of visitors who have come to the Royal B.C. Museum and have enjoyed their time here enough to tell others,” said Scott Cooper, vice-president, Exhibitions Innovation.

“We thank them all for their ongoing support and their kind words on TripAdvisor.”

Every year the Royal B.C. Museum welcomes almost a million visitors to its Victoria location (and another two million online).

According to visitors surveyed in August 2014, 33 per cent said the primary reason they came to Victoria was to see the museum and archive’s major exhibition for 2014, Vikings.  Furthermore, 48 per cent of summer visitors were from out-of-province.
