People all across B.C. now have access to the Royal B.C. Museum’s collections, archives, stories and findings from home and school.
The Learning Portal is a new website launched by the Royal B.C. Museum that serves as a tool for children and adults wanting to learn and explore various topics.
Themes range from animal studies to biodiversity to military and war. There is also a section to learn more about the City of Victoria.
“The Learning Portal is part of our commitment to the digital and physical renewal of our educational infrastructure at the museum,” said Royal B.C. Museum CEO Jack Lohman. “Creating a major online study resource for informal learning will inspire curiosity about our important collections and stimulate creative thinking.”
Each section has a variety of related articles, videos, images and stories from experts in the field.
Teachers, librarians and staff from the Ministry of Education had inout in the design of the Learning Portal, along with Royal B.C. Museum staff.
“B.C. public libraries support millions of lifelong learners, and this is a fabulous way for learners to personalize the way they explore history,” said Maureen Sawa, CEO of Greater Victoria Public Library.
