The Queen Charlotte RCMP detachment remains short one office worker, says Sgt. Rob Knapton, even though a successful candidate has been identified and offered the job. Sgt. Knapton told the Moresby Island Management Committee last week that government rules are preventing the new employee from starting work until she gets an approval from Health Canada, stating that she is fit to live here. That’s despite the fact that she already lives here, Sgt. Knapton said. Her spouse must also get the Health Canada assessment, even though he also already lives here and works for the federal government, he said. “The government bureaucracy sometimes is frustrating,” he said.
