A rural Enderby home has been consumed by flames.
Fire broke out in the 100 block of Potrie Road, near Kingfisher, just before 6 a.m. Saturday.
“The owner got a couple of things out before he had to leave the building,” said Gord Molendyk, with the RCMP.
“The structure burned to the ground.”
The Enderby Fire Department was notified of the situation but did not attend.
“It was well beyond our fire protection boundary,” said chief Kevin Alstad.
“If we had responded, it would have taken at least half-an-hour to get out there.”
On scene were staff from the Ministry of Forests’ wildfire management branch.
“As our firefighters are not structural firefighters, a forest officer stayed on scene to determine there was no risk of the structure fire spreading into the forest,” said Kayla Pepper, a fire information officer with the ministry.
“While a few trees were singed, the fire was contained within the perimeter of the property.”
The ministry then received another call at around 4 p.m. Saturday about a barn fire at the same address.
“Again, the structure fire did not pose a threat to timber beyond the property,” said Pepper.
The cause of both fires is currently being investigated by the RCMP.
“Our members are still working with the property owner and the file is active,” said Molendyk, adding that the property owner had insurance.
