Rural Lumby residents and businesses are hitting the information highway.
The provincial government is providing $200,000 for Internet service while there is $50,000 from the Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust.
“This will complement the service already provided in neighbouring communities, making us a more connected region overall,” said Rick Fairbairn, rural Lumby director and Regional District of North Okanagan vice-chairperson.
“I know local residents and businesses are looking forward to the wide range of services and information that will now be available.”
This one-time $200,000 investment complements work now completed in the Cherryville area to expand its Internet infrastructure.
Access to high-speed Internet will bring economic, educational and health benefits to local families and businesses.
“I know residents in this area are looking for better Internet connectivity,” said Eric Foster, Vernon-Monashee MLA.
