SIDNEY — Saanich Peninsula and Greater Victoria health care providers received a boost from the Army, Navy and Airforce Sidney Unit (ANAF) recently.

On Wed., Dec. 3, Sidney ANAF held a ceremony to recognize their latest donations and account for an estimated $18,000 they have given cumulatively to: the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation to support their music therapy program; the Broadmead Care Society to help them with their newly installed overhead lifts; to Diana Wass in her efforts with junior diabetes research, and; the RCMP to help with the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program.

Funds also went to: the Saanich Peninsula Pipe Band who are always willing to help the ANAVETS Unit at various functions throughout the year; to the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA), and; the Citadel Canine Society that trains dogs to assist those veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

The donations are the result of the Unit’s charity meat draws held three times a week on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m. The meat draws are licenced by the B.C. Gaming Branch of the B.C. Lottery Corporation. Anyone of good character and age of majority can become a member in ANAVETS Sidney Unit 302.
