Lochside elementary’s parent advisory committee will be reimbursed $46,000 thanks to a Ministry of Education fund set up to pay for new playground equipment.
The elementary school on Royal Oak Drive received a new playground last year thanks to the hard work of parents, principal Joe Grewal said.
“LEPAC (Lochside elementary parents advisory committee) totally devoted their fundraising efforts to the playground. It’ll be nice to have this money back and we can provide more support in the other important areas,” Grewal said.
Where the reimbursement goes is up to the committee, but Grewal says the goals of improving numeracy and literacy are top priorities.
In September, Premier Christy Clark announced $8 million will go toward upgrading and building playgrounds at elementary and middle schools provincewide.
